![]() ![]() I travelled out there with some guys I was playing in a band for, and we had a couple of shows in and around Terlingua. It was summer, sometime in my twenties, and I was around the Big Bend area of Texas. I’m proud of this song and I can’t wait to share it with you. This song addresses those issues as I admit to having scars, being older than most people in this career, but the truth, my real story, is better than anything else I could tell. I was tired of my hair being part of my story, tired of being referred to as Jesus, and tired of keeping my true self hidden for the sake of a mock-up. Sometime after Texas opened back up to 100% and some of the COVID19 restrictions were lifted, I felt a personal kind of rebirth. I even grew my hair and beard out because I thought that’s how I needed to look in order to be taken seriously as a songwriter. I found myself writing, playing, and working in ways that I thought might make me a little more money or get me a little more recognition. One is “It All Starts With A Song” and another is “Tennessee Whiskey: The Dean Dillon Story”. ![]() There are several documentaries that have been made over the years, where this fact is illuminated. That’s because we have this silly eating and bill paying habit. Generally, an artist often must make choices when creating. The story is a newer story than some of the other songs. ![]()
